I was wondering if a gyroscope could be used as an internal stablizer in a fixed wing aircraft. |

| Yes and often is. take a look at any RC modelling forum for extensive discussions on gyros and autopilots.

| if you were to use the gyroscope to stabilize your flight, keep in mind that at the high speeds that a plane travels, the giroscope will be spinning incredibly fast. if you intend for it to work, even though a gyroscope wants to stay on one single invisible axis, it will resist to the wind. make sure that it is places exactly how you want it, or your plane will go down hard and you will lose control of your plane.
