Leveling a gyroscope rod? |
Question: |
With a specific application in mind, I am wondering if it is possible to keep a hollow 2in dia x 4ft steel rod standing on end, while perfectly level? Could this be achieved by putting gyroscopes inside the hollow rod? Or maybe even another method? I know this has to be possible, just how im not sure? ANY INFORMATION that can be provided would be a huge help. thank you |

| | How do you think the V2 rocket managed to take off whilst remaining perfectly vertical. Yes, gyroscpes would do the job although the gyros would only sense the movement of the rod, you would need an external control device under the control of the gyroscopes to counteract the movement of the rod i.e. external masses that are pendulous etc etc
