Subject: gyro math page
Question: What is “cut-away” part in a gyroscope? And what is the meaning of “cut-away measurements” in the gyroscope math page?

 This is so you can put in the size of the rims or put the cut-aways into the disk. if you look at the diagrams down the bottom of the page that may help.

Tip: To get the best gyroscopic force to weight ratio have a slim centre and a think outer rim.

 If you look down the bottom of the page there are two images of gyroscopes. You'll see both have rims on the outside. The cut-away sections are the areas between those rims (either side).
