 Dear R Urwin,

Another interesting video can be found here:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=44kfpx578rs&NR=1

The non spinning mass of the gyro seems to be doing as expected here; namely producing movement caused by the eccentric mass’s rotation. It only goes back and forth because the wheels prevent the cart from sideways movement.

I think that assembly in the video that you put up moves more in the forward direction because the slope of the axis of the gyro’s mount means there is greater momentum imparted to the assembly by the greater speed change at that part of its cycle at the forward end. Again, the sideways impetus is prevented from moving the assembly sideways by the wheels.

Kind regards
NM
