Assuming its a simple toy gyroscope you either need a pull handle or string. The string often gets lost but and fine string will work. You should find a hole on the shaft/axle.
put about a 1cm (half an inch) through the hole. Then rotate the shaft/axle, the string will start to roll round the shaft. Keep rotating until you only have a enough to hold.

Hold the outside of the gyroscope (not touching the disk or shaft) with one hand and with the other hand hold the string. Hold the gyroscope firmly and pull the string with some force. Keep pulling until the string comes out of the shaft.

You will then have a spinning gyroscope.

Thats the basics anyway.
