Subject: Gyroscope balance requirments
Question: if a gyroscope was being used to balance an unbalanced object, would the gyroscope have to be heavier than the object and if so by how much?

 No it doesn’t need to be heavier. The amount of force the gyroscope produces depends on three factors its size/shape, the speed it is rotating and the weight/mass of the gyroscope. So a large diameter gyroscope, running at a high speed can balance an object which is heavier than the gyroscope.
