Asked by: Dan Wafford
Subject: Sizing a gyroscope
Question: I'd like to know the approximate size/mass/speed requirements for a gyroscope that would keep a 200-pound person seated on a bicycle vertical, and if possible, simple calculations for approximating size requirement as conditions changed - for example, if the person on the bicycle was traveling 20 mph and turned sharply enough to produce an acceleration of X magnitude.
