What is the significance of gyroscope? |
Question: |
I am fascinated by this physical phenomenon and is writing a paper studying its mechanism. I think it would spark the interest of the academic if I can provide other information beyond the physical explication of its behaviours, such as its cultural significance, applications, future of development an the like. In plainer words, reasons why gyroscopes are important. Hope to hear from you.

| | Gyroscopes have very practical uses. In particular for navigation for ships and aircraft, without them it is arguable that the huge increase in safe transportation from 1900 would not have happen. They also play a critical roll in space travel and weapon systems, both of which have clearly shaped the world as we know it. In recent years silicon gyro sensors have enabled a wealth of applications and games, on phones, games consoles and tablets. The have spawned numerous radio controlled toys. They are also helped with safety systems in cars to detect when the car is getting out of control, enabling the car to make corrections or activate the airbags.
