Question

Asked by: Maurice Thiebaut
Subject: How V1's autopilot works ?
Question: Hello
I would like to know how the guidance system in the flying bomb V1 works.
I have a schematic drawing and some indications but not enough to understand.
A magnetic compass drive a torque motor on a main gyroscop. An end of the rotor shaft is weighted.
Sensors on vertical and horizontal planes give command to move elevator and ruder.
Two more gyroscops maybe make damping for large error ?
I think that I know what is a gyroscop and how it works.
Thanks
Maurice
