Question

Asked by: frederick
Subject: magnitude of the gyroscope
Question: 1. A generating set is arranged on board ship with its axis parallel to the longitudianl centre-line of the ship. The revolving parts have a mass of 1400kg, a radius of gyration of 400mm and revolve at 420rev/min. If the ship steams at 36km/hr, round a curve of 180m radius. Find the magnitude of the gyroscope.

2. Given the following parameters, determine the maximum gyroscopic torque in Nm;
Mass=350kg, radius=120mmsquare, N=2400rpm, ohms=0.2513rad/s.
