Question

Asked by: Andrew Gee
Subject: German WW2 Torpedo Gyro
Question: Hi,

Wondering if anyone can point me to where I can find information on German WW2 period (pre-WW2?) torpedo gyros. I'm specifically after the G7a T1 (21") torpedo gyro. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Andrew

BTW - I have viewed the one in your gallery - looks nothing like it!

Well, kinda funny that I'm answering my own question!! - perhaps there is just little data available or torpedo gyros just aren't interesting enough except to a one or two nutty collectors?

Well if you do have an interest in just how gyros actually functioned in German WW2 torpedos = check out the following reference....

[Found this diagram and explanation on how the T-5 gyro works (almost identical to the T-1 model that I have].

We have a large display of various torpedo gyroscopes, including what I believe to be a G7aT1. Would be very interested in trading photos.
