Question

Asked by: Brian Roberts
Subject: Laithwait Lectures from 1974
Question: Hi,

In Christmas 1974 I was a 13 year old who was enthused by Eric Laithwaite's Christmas lectures. I enjoyed watching the one on gyroscopes provided by this site and wondered if any of the other lectures remain? The Royal Instituion does not appear to offer them.

I remember the other lectures contained some realy worth while engineering demonstrations including some of Laithwaites linear induction motors. He was a very good lecturer so it would be a shame if these programmes have not been saved. Does anyone know of a source for these other lectures?

Many thanks.

Its very tricky. You see both the BBC and the Royal Instituion seemed to have washed there hands of the programme. Neither will offer it or sale or even for educational use.
I beleave the British library have a copy and some part BBC have it in a public archive.
I can 'obtain' a little more of the programme but I have yet to see all of it.

Wouldn't it be nice to get box collections of the Royal Instituion lectures?
